Mechanical Engineer - GSA White Oak

Position Description: Mechanical Project Engineer

Project/Mechanical Engineer Major Tasks:

*GSA requires support in the engineering field to develop, repair, and replace equipment on projects to improve system reliability and efficiency.


*GSA is seeking to supplement our staff with a Mechanical Engineer to develop Scopes of Work, construction estimates, and procurement documents, and perform construction management of projects involving
mechanical and structural equipment and components on the White Oak campus that cannot be provided by our current staff.

*The provided personnel will develop, review, and provide guidance for GSA and contractor project team in mechanical engineering & design specification and scope and project engineering cost estimation to ensure it is justified and fit-for-purpose, compliance with applicable design engineering codes and standards, project specifications, statutory and regulatory requirements taking into consideration technical integrity, cost, schedule, constructability, operability, and maintainability i.e. in full compliance to project & plant changes requirements.

*The provided personnel will participate in the quality control of engineering design on engineering deliverables through activities such as reviews by third parties to ensure compliance with applicable design engineering codes and standards, project requirements (HSE, HAZOP, EIA, QRA, etc.), statutory and safety requirements.

*The provided personnel will provide subject matter expert review and quality assurance of annual measurement and verification reports for the campus Energy Savings Performance Contract.

*Knowledge of emergency generator support (EGEN) Black Starts, and Functional Performance Tests.

*These tests are critical and must be conducted to know the operability of the cup. They ensure operations can continue without PEPCO.

*Foster and sustain effective working relationships and rapport with the government authorities, must be a fully licensed Professional Engineer (PE). That will adhere to compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.

*Public Trust Clearance is required.
